The community of Kolnyang Payam, Bor South County, came together on 13th August for a public declaration event organized by Africa Initiative for Rural Development (AIRD) at the Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS), wrapping up a 13-week Community Care Programme conducted through 26 meetings.
Women’s songs set the tone, and a youth-led drama brought to life the realities of forced marriage and harmful norms, opening the floor for honest conversation on adopting positive norms.
Speaking with one voice, group representatives including chiefs, women leaders, local leaders, organized forces, faith leaders, youth leaders, and opinion leaders publicly declared their support for ending harmful practices and ensuring survivors have free and safe access to support.
