On 12th August, (AIRD) convened a public declaration event at the Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS) in Makuach Payam, Bor South County, marking the close of a 13-week Community Care Programme that brought communities together through 26 meetings.
The gathering drew together chiefs, women leaders, local leaders, organized forces, faith leaders, youth leaders, opinion leaders, and mixed community groups.
Women lifted the crowd with traditional songs, while a youth group delivered a powerful drama on forced marriage and harmful norms sparking heartfelt reflection and dialogue on embracing positive norms.
One after another, representatives from each group stood before the community to publicly pledge their commitment to abandoning forced marriage and harmful practices, championing positive norms, and guaranteeing free and safe access to support for GBV survivors.
