On Session 17 of their ongoing dialogue series on community care program, female opinion leaders convened to tackle a critical but often hidden issue: personal beliefs about sexual violence.

The group acknowledged that harmful attitudes such as blaming survivors or minimizing abuse remain deeply rooted in many communities. However, the leaders affirmed a powerful truth: beliefs can change.

Through open discussion, the women committed to unlearning harmful narratives and replacing them with survivor-centered, accountability-driven perspectives. More importantly, they pledged to work together using their influence as mothers, teachers, faith leaders, and community guides to actively prevent sexual violence.

“We have the power to shift mindsets,” one participant shared. “When we change our beliefs, we change our community.”

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to turn awareness into action, ensuring that every woman and girl can live free from violence. AIRD commends these leaders for their courage and commitment to building safer communities for all.
